As far as possible and practicable toward what end?

From now on, I'm just going to call this the "vegan gap," because it is missing a crucial component. Every time a vegan uses this definition, there is something implicit in their key phrase, "as far as possible and practicable," which they fail to mention (and I only assume oversight rather than any sort of malice).

To wit: toward what end they are acting in both (1) "seeking to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and, by extension," (2) "promoting the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment."

There is an unfortunate lack of transparency here, but please, I'm not trying to excoriate vegans who accept this definition or anything, because "whither" has fallen out of use, and is often muddled with another word, namely, "why". (Ex. Whither did he commit the murder? To secure his fortune. Why did he commit the murder? Greed).

Besides, this isn't some sort of gotcha. It's just to say, "you're missing something." This raises an important question, and something's raising a question does not indicate fallaciousness, but it does indicate a neglected burden.

So the question must be asked: "Whither?" Or, "toward what end?"

I have a feeling that I know what the reader may be wondering: what significance does the end of our activity have?

Well, it will elucidate the common object in virtue of which you seek to do that which it is that you seek to do, and promote that which it is that you promote.

You seek x and promote y- as far as is possible and practicable- so that you may... what?

You seek x and promote y- as far as is possible and practicable- to do or achieve... what exactly?

I'm in the dark, vegans [who accept this definition].

Please, enlighten me. Whither do you seek to [...] and, by extension, promote [...]?
